Vinay Malik is a senior attorney at Mannava and Kang PC. Vinay has over 13 years of experience in intellectual property law. His extensive background as an engineer, outside counsel lawyer, and in-house lawyer, allows him to provide well-rounded advice to clients. In addition to patent procurement, Vinay handles patent litigation matters, IP due diligence projects, and overall IP portfolio management for his smaller clients. Furthermore, Vinay’s extensive litigation experience enables him to draft patents that are likely to withstand the rigors of examination not only at the USPTO but also by opposing counsel, judges, and juries.
Prior to joining Mannava and Kang, Vinay ran his own legal practice focusing on patent procurement and IP portfolio management for small to mid-sized companies. Before that, Vinay was Of Counsel to a west coast based patent litigation boutique where he was heavily involved in all aspects of patent litigation including depositions, witness preparation, source code review, and motion drafting. Vinay has also worked as in-house counsel for Accenture LLP where he managed a portion of Accenture’s IP portfolio. He started his legal career by working as a student associate at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett, and Dunner LLP and then as an associate at DLA Piper LLP US where worked on a variety of patent procurement and patent litigation projects.
Vinay started his professional career as a Network Engineer working as a contractor for the US Navy and then at UUNET Technologies where he configured and troubleshot LAN and WAN equipment including Cisco and Juniper routers, Marconi and Stratacom ATM switches, and Lucent Frame Relay Switches. He is also a Cisco Certified Networking Associate.
