Timothy B. Kang
Timothy B. Kang is a co-founding partner of Mannava & Kang, P.C. Timothy has over 16 years of combined experience as a patent attorney and as a patent examiner. Timothy’s practice is focused primarily on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, client counseling, and validity and infringement opinions. His technical expertise includes mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies including computer hardware and software, networking, refrigeration and cooling systems, printers, photocopiers, digital cameras and imaging techniques, turbine engines, robotic devices, medical devices, packaging machines and processes, and semiconductor fabrication.
Prior to co-founding Mannava & Kang, P.C., Timothy was the senior mechanical patent attorney in the intellectual property group at the law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering and an associate at the law firm of Burns, Doane, Swecker & Mathis, LLP. At Wilmer and Burns, Timothy prepared and prosecuted patent applications and counseled clients relating to validity, infringement, and patentability.
Timothy also worked as a patent examiner for the United States Patent and Trademark Office where he evaluated the patentability of inventions involving various mechanical technologies ranging from building structures and materials to various composite structures related to aircrafts. Prior to becoming a patent examiner, Timothy was a student engineer for General Electric Aerospace, which later became part of Lockheed Martin. Timothy worked extensively on fabrication and testing of naval and land based radar systems. Timothy also studied and worked on the use of robotic devices to assist persons with various spinal cord injuries at the A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital.
