John A. Tan
John Tan holds a Ph.D. in Computational Sciences and Informatics, M.S. in Physics and has over 20 years of industry experience in computer vision, software-based modeling-simulation & analysis, sensor systems, and image analysis, including filtering, stitching, segmentation, and classifications algorithms.
In addition to serving as a Technical Specialist, Dr. Tan is the owner and CEO of SciX3 (dba CSLabs), a software company that specializes in design and implementation of software infrastructure, algorithms, and physics modeling-simulation and analysis, which supports DARPA and DMEA research in nonlinear computer tomography (CT) reconstruction algorithms, and includes analysis of terabytes of data collected from Stanford’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.
Dr. Tan has worked as a lead scientist and engineer for both startups and large companies and universities, such as Mav6, University of Southern California, General Dynamics, and SAIC. Dr. Tan has received numerous awards and recognition for his work and has published papers and presented on various topics in computer vision, modeling-simulation & analysis, imaging integrated circuits, and pattern recognition for GOMACTech (Government Microcircuit Applications and Critical Technology Conference), IEEE MILCOM, and International Conference on Software and Data Technologies.
Dr. Tan was also an experienced patent searcher for Optipat, focusing on patentability searches in computer hardware, software, semiconductor devices, optical, mechanical, and biomedical technologies.
