Ashok Mannava is a co-founder of Mannava & Kang, P.C. Ashok has over 17 years of experience in intellectual property law as a patent attorney and as a former patent examiner. Ashok counsels clients in all areas of intellectual property, with a specialty in patent law. In addition to patent procurement, Ashok handles infringement, invalidity, licensing, and due diligence issues, and manages patent portfolios for our small to mid-size clients. His technical expertise includes network devices, computer architecture, software, business methods, digital video, and telecommunications including wireless.

Prior to co-founding Mannava &Kang, P.C., Ashok was a senior patent attorney in the intellectual property group at Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering (now Wilmer Hale) and, prior to Wilmer, an associate at Banner & Witcoff. At Wilmer, in addition to patent preparation and prosecution, Ashok developed and managed patent portfolios for small and mid-sized companies based on their evolving business plans. Ashok also developed expertise in licensing and due diligence matters and patent pooling. Ashok was acting patent pool coordinator for digital video broadcasting technology. At Banner, Ashok litigated patents related to electronic program guides and prepared and prosecuted patent applications.

Ashok also worked as a patent examiner for the United States Patent and Trademark Office for over five years, where he examined patents related to multiplexed communications and condition-responsive systems. Prior to joining the Patent Office, Ashok was a systems analyst at AIG Trading Corporation and a co-op engineer at General Electric Aircraft Engines.
